SoundBox is a series of live Musique Concrete solos with a very performative and theatrical setting by Edmund Mooney, Jonathan Farrow and Andrea Williams.We developed a performance where in one of us would improvise with found objects and electronics with our arms and hands in the box while the other two circulated amongst the audience taking sound readings and making copious absurd notes. It should not go without saying that we were all wearing white Hazmat suits, masks and goggles while performing these activities. Jonny and Andrea used electronics and other recordings in their performances but I chose to find materials from the outside environment and improvise with only them, into my $40.00 PZM mic from Radio Shack. I found it amazing how many sounds one can get out of natural and artificial materials lying around on the ground.
